Our commitment
Safeguarding
The people our workers support are often at their most vulnerable. Safeguarding is not a policy we file away — it shapes how we recruit, who we put forward and how we respond when something is wrong.
Everyone at Kome Staffing has a responsibility to act on a concern, and no one will be penalised for raising one in good faith.
Call 999. Do not wait to report it to us first. If a child or adult is at risk but not in immediate danger, contact the local authority safeguarding team for the area where they live, and tell us as soon as you can.
Policy detail
Safer recruitment
Safeguarding starts before anyone reaches a service.
- Identity verified against acceptable documents
- Right to Work established before an assignment is confirmed
- Full employment history obtained, with gaps explored
- References sought appropriate to the role
- DBS checks at the level the role and setting require, including barred list checks for regulated activity
- Professional registration verified against the relevant regulator where a role requires it
- Mandatory and role-specific training evidenced, including safeguarding training
- Ongoing monitoring, so lapsed documents affect the assignments a worker can be considered for
What we expect of workers
- Complete safeguarding training appropriate to your role and keep it current
- Follow the safeguarding policy of the service you are working in
- Report concerns immediately to the service and to us — never assume someone else has
- Never investigate a concern yourself, but record what you saw or were told, factually and promptly
- Maintain professional boundaries and follow the service's policies on lone working, restraint, medication and record keeping
- Tell us about any change to your DBS status, professional registration or fitness to practise
Raising a concern with us
If you have a safeguarding concern about a Kome Staffing worker, or about something a worker has seen, tell us straight away.
- Email: info@komestaffing.co.uk with "Safeguarding" in the subject line
- Telephone: +44 20 8075 5966
- Safeguarding lead: Debora Kiladejo, Founder & Director — telephone +44 20 8075 5966 or email info@komestaffing.co.uk
We will acknowledge a concern promptly, take immediate action to reduce risk where needed, and cooperate fully with the service, the local authority and any statutory investigation.
What we do with a concern
- Record it accurately and securely, restricting access to those who need it
- Take immediate steps to reduce risk, which may include suspending a worker from assignments while a matter is looked into
- Report to the local authority safeguarding team, the CQC, the police or a professional regulator where required
- Make a referral to the DBS where the legal duty to refer applies
- Support the client organisation's own investigation and share information lawfully
- Review what happened afterwards and act on what we learn
Whistleblowing
If you raise a genuine concern about wrongdoing, you are protected under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998. We will not tolerate retaliation against anyone who speaks up. If you would rather not come to us, you can contact the CQC or the charity Protect for confidential advice.
