Our commitment
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
Care work is done by people from every background, and the workforce we recruit should reflect that.
We are committed to treating candidates, workers, clients and colleagues fairly, and to making our process accessible to people who are too often screened out of it.
Policy detail
Our commitment
We do not discriminate on the basis of any protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender reassignment
- Marriage and civil partnership
- Pregnancy and maternity
- Race
- Religion or belief
- Sex
- Sexual orientation
This applies to recruitment, registration, assignment matching, pay, training, and how we handle complaints.
In recruitment and placement
- Selection decisions are based on the requirements of the role — experience, competency, registration and compliance
- Job requirements are set by what the assignment genuinely needs, not by assumption
- We do not accept discriminatory instructions from clients. If a client asks us to exclude workers on the basis of a protected characteristic, we will decline and explain why
- Where an occupational requirement genuinely applies — for example a same-sex carer for personal care where the service user has expressed a preference the law permits — we apply it narrowly and record the justification
- Equality monitoring data, where collected, is kept separate from selection decisions and reported only in aggregate
Disability and reasonable adjustments
We have a duty to make reasonable adjustments, and we would rather make an assignment work than lose a good worker.
- Tell us what you need at any point — you do not have to disclose a diagnosis to ask for an adjustment
- We can adjust our registration and interview process, including format, timing and location
- We will discuss adjustments with a client where an assignment requires them
- Occupational health advice is used to enable work, not to screen people out
Ask for an adjustment at info@komestaffing.co.uk. Requests are handled confidentially.
Reporting discrimination or harassment
If you experience or witness discrimination, harassment or victimisation — from us, from a client, or from anyone on an assignment — tell us.
We will take it seriously, investigate, and act. We will not treat you badly for raising it.

Accessibility of our services
Inclusion includes being able to use our website and our process. If any part is difficult to use, tell us — see the Accessibility Statement for what we have done and how to report a barrier.
How we hold ourselves to this
- EDI covered in staff induction and refreshed periodically
- Complaints of discrimination recorded, investigated and reviewed
- Equality monitoring reviewed to identify patterns in who applies, who is registered and who is placed
- This statement reviewed at least annually
