Accessibility Statement
We want everyone to be able to use this website — including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, need larger text, or find motion uncomfortable.
This statement explains what we have done, what we know is not yet right, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.

What this site does
-
Keyboard navigable
Every interactive element can be reached and operated by keyboard, with a skip link to the main content.
-
Visible focus
A clear 3px focus indicator shows where you are on the page.
-
Resizable text
Text can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content, and the accessibility panel offers larger sizes directly.
-
Colour contrast
Text meets WCAG 2.2 AA contrast ratios. Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
-
Screen reader friendly
Semantic HTML, landmarks, labelled form fields, alt text and live regions for status messages.
-
Accessibility panel
Text size, high contrast, reduced motion, link highlighting and a readable font, saved to your browser.
Policy detail
Standard we aim to meet
This site aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
Conformance status: this is a self-assessment based on our own testing. We have not yet had an independent audit, so we do not claim full conformance.
How to change how this site looks
The accessibility button in the bottom corner of every page opens a panel where you can:
- Increase or decrease text size
- Turn on a high contrast colour scheme
- Reduce or stop animation and movement
- Highlight every link with an underline and outline
- Switch to a more readable font with wider letter and line spacing
- Reset everything back to the default
Your choices are stored in your browser only. They are not sent to us and are not used to identify you.
Using your own settings
This site also respects settings you may already have.
- Operating system "reduce motion" settings are honoured automatically
- Browser zoom and minimum font size work without breaking the layout
- The site reflows at 320px width so it works with 400% zoom
- AbilityNet has guidance on adapting your device at abilitynet.org.uk/my-computer-my-way
Known issues
We are honest about what is not finished:
- Some documents linked from the site may not yet be fully accessible. Ask us and we will provide an accessible version
- Third-party icon and font assets are loaded from external providers; if those fail to load, text alternatives remain readable
- The vacancy search is not yet connected to live data, so it currently presents an empty state
- No independent audit has been carried out yet. If one identifies further issues, we will list them here with a target date for fixing each
Reporting a problem
If you find something you cannot use, please tell us. Describe the page and what happened — you do not need to know the technical cause.

How we tested
Testing to date has been carried out internally, covering keyboard navigation, focus order, heading structure, form labelling, colour contrast measurement and responsive layout down to 320px.
No independent audit has been carried out to date. If one is commissioned, we will record its date, who carried it out and what was tested.
